This card is part of the Ukiyo-e Oriental Art collection. Ukiyo-e (or "pictures of the floating world") is a school of Japanese art depicting subjects from everyday life that was dominant during the 17th–19th centuries.

In many Eastern religions the lotus is a symbol of purity, beauty and non-attachment and for the centre of consciousness.
