The Artist -

Norman Lindsay (1879 - 1969) was a well known (and sometimes controversial) Australian artist, Illustrator, etcher, sculptor, writer, editorial cartoonist and an accomplished amateur boxer. He was born in Creswick (outside Ballarat), Victoria.

The Magic Pudding was published in 1918 and is considered a children’s classic, it continues to be reprinted. The story is set in Australia, and tells of a magic pudding which, no matter how often it is eaten, always reforms in order to be eaten again. It is owned by three companions who must defend it against ‘Pudding Thieves’ who want it for themselves.
