Contemporary artist Deborah Phillips paints the wild energy of the Scottish landscape with enthusiasm. From going out into the countryside for reference samples, to squeezing the paint and mixing the colors, to seeing the finished work, “Every stage gives me a thrill,” she says. She creates her wondrous scenes in her North Fife studio overlooking the Firth of Tay.
By age fourteen, Phillips (Scottish, b. 1965) had exhibited her work at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. She is a graduate of the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and has exhibited her work throughout the United Kingdom. Her paintings can be found in corporate and private collections throughout the world.
