The Artist -
Margaret Preston (1875-1963) was one of the most significant exponents of Modernism in 20th century Australian painting and printmaking. Preston's emergence as an influential figure in the 1920s is inextricably linked to her extensive travels and studies in Europe between 1904 and 1907. These experiences and resulting artistic revelations would colour Preston's practice, her critical thinking and theorising for the remainder of her life.
