Emma Miszalski is the creative force behind Pip and Pod Designs. She is an artist, graphic designer and editor based in the Blue Mountains, NSW. A lover of books and birds, her passion for the natural world is reflected in her diverse and whimsical designs.

The spectacular Illawarra Flame tree (Brachychiton acerifolius) explodes in late Spring and Summer with its vibrant vermilion bell-shaped inflorescence — often in time for Christmas — bearing gifts for the senses.  Growing wild along the east coast of Australia from the Illawarra, south coast of New South Wales and up into the Queensland rainforests this iconic native tree holds in its branches twelve different Australian bird species. Cockatoo, Willie Wagtail, Pardalote, Kookaburra, Gouldian Finch, Double-barred Finches, Superb Fairy Wren, Magpie, Rainbow Lorikeet, King Parrot, Rosella and a Pink Robin.
