About -

Perhaps the most recognised Australian native flower, the waratah is one of our most spectacular blooms.

Its botanical name Telopea speciosissima comes from the Greek word ‘telepos’ meaning ‘seen from afar’ and speciossima is derived from the Latin adjective ‘speciosus’, meaning ‘beautiful’.

The name ‘Waratah’ comes from the First Nations Eora people, the original inhabitants of the Sydney area, meaning ‘red flowering tree’.
