The 40 full-color landscape prints by Katsushika Hokusai presented here leave no doubt as to why he is considered one of the 19th century’s greatest printmakers. His depictions of nature distill a precise moment into a finely crafted composition, whether they portray a boisterous waterfall, a soaring bird, or the majestic Mt. Fuji.

The Artist-

Katsushika Hokusai (1760 -1849) was a painter and printmaker during the Edo period in Japan. Best known for his woodblock creations, including The Great Wave, which made him known worldwide. Hokusai played a large role in modifying ukiyo-e from a style of portraiture into a much broader style of art focusing on landscapes, flora and fauna.
