The Artist -

Grace Cossington Smith (1892-1984) was an Australian artist and pioneer of modernist painting in Australia and was instrumental in introducing Post-Impressionism to her home country.  Cossington Smith executed some of the most intricate and elaborately executed images of her generation and she occupies a crucial place in Australian art of the 20th Century. Examples of her work are held by every major gallery in Australia.
