The art-

Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin (7 June 1848 – 8 May 1903) was a French Post-Impressionist artist.  Gauguin’s art gained in popularity after his death. He was recognised for his experimental use of colour and Synthetist style influenced by Impressionism. In the later part of his life, Gauguin spent ten years in French Polynesia. His paintings from that time depict landscapes and people from that region. His work was influential on the French avant-garde and many modern artists, such as Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso, and he is well known for his relationship with both Vincent and Theo van Gogh. Gauguin was an important figure in the Symbolist movement as a painter, printmaker, sculptor, ceramist and writer.
