The solstices are a special time of the year where the Sun’s path across our skies mark the points of the longest and shortest days depending on which part of the Earth you inhabit.
The solstice tree has a long tradition in ancient pre-Christian cultures and the Christmas tree is an extension of the sacred veneration of the evergreen tree that never died during the cold, winter months and symbolised the everlasting nature of the Goddess and the promise of sunshine and growth returning as the days grew longer.
This solstice tree marks the summer solstice when the Sun is at its zenith and on the other side darkness and dormancy lies in wait until the Earth completes it spin around the Sun.
