Norman Lindsey (1879 - 1969) was a well known (and sometimes controversial) Australian artist, Illustrator, etcher, sculptor, writer, editorial cartoonist and an accomplished amateur boxer. He was born in Creswick (outside Ballarat), Victoria.  Lindsay was particularly fond of and always kept a small warm corner of his home and artistic life for his cats. He particularly enjoyed recording their amusing antics.

Norman Lindsay's book  The Magic Pudding was published in 1918.  It is a comic fantasy, and a classic of Australian children's literature.
