Charles Rennie Mackintosh Collection

Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868 - 1928) was a major influence on the architecture and design of the twentieth century. A gifted artist,  designer, craftsman and architect, he is one of the key figures of the Arts & Crafts Design Movement in Britain and the flourish of Art Nouveau  in Scotland. Mackintosh has been recognised only recently for his collection of botanical works. Mackintosh painted plants prolifically  throughout his career, his lyrical flower pictures and sophisticated still-life compositions placing him at the forefront of Britain’s avant-garde  movement.
